JOHNSTON James Beveridge Born October 7, 1922 in Vancouver and passed away peacefully at Mount St. Joseph Hospital in Vancouver, B.C. on September 23, 2009. He was the first son of William and Margaret Johnston (nee Beveridge). Survived by brother Doug (Dorothy), nephew Bill Johnston (Nancy), nieces Sherri Cotterell (Brian), and Kathi Troncoso (Joe). Grand-nephews and nieces Ryan and Rachel, Mark and Mathew, and Christina, Sara and Melissa. Cousins Lynn Piaggio, Ruth Carr, Eleanor Ramsey, Anne Cockle, Donna Conroy, and Bertha Purcell. Jim served as a Navigator with the RCAF during WW2 and completed 34 flying missions. He worked for Canada Post for 32 years in various positions including Postmaster in Campbell River and retired in 1977. He lived in the same house in South Vancouver for 83 years. His garden was his love and joy and spent much time tending to his flowers and vegetables. He loved fishing and traveled to many interior lakes . Cremation will be provided by Personal Alternative Funeral Services and ashes placed in the family plot at Ocean View Burial Park. Celebration of Jim's life to be held November 1, 2009, 2pm to 4pm at the Firefighters Club Banquet and Conference Center, 6515 Bonser Street, Burnaby, B.C.
