SCHOLTE Hendrik (Henk) December 30, 1928 - October 17, 2009 It is with sorrow and a profound sense of loss that we announce the sudden passing of Henk Scholte, a husband; brother; father and father-in-law; grandfather; great-grandfather; uncle; church elder and loyal friend. Henk entered the presence of the Lord on October 17, 2009 at Calgary Foothills Hospital, with family by his side. He is survived by Hilda, his loving wife of 58 years, and siblings, Nellie (Klaas), Gertie (Albert), Marie, Leonard (Ann), Corrie (Ralph), Margaret, and Rika (Jim). He will be deeply missed by his son Dan (Tania); daughters, Catherine (Bruce), Marilou (Terry) and Natalie; grandchildren, Nathan (Emily), Sarah, Stephen, Paul (Jessica), Derek and Dustin; step-grandchildren, Steven and Jackie, and great-granddaughters, Rachel and Eden. Henk was a man of intentional and determined faith, known for his honesty, integrity, work ethic and common sense. Henk loved the Bible, his Maker, his family and creation in a quiet, but passionate way. Born in Holland in 1928, Henk came to Canada in 1947 with his family. He had nursery, florist and landscaping businesses in Burnaby, Surrey and Kelowna, the latter in partnership with son Dan, before his retirement three years ago. After retirement Henk dedicated his time to faith, family and community. Henk's life will be celebrated with joy and thanksgiving at Mission Creek Alliance Church, 2091 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 28th. A private family burial will precede the memorial service. Henk cultivated flowers and plants with great care throughout his life and some may wish to pay tribute to him in this manner, however, the family requests instead, that donations in his memory be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation www.heartandstroke.bc.ca .
