BOOTH Cathrene Joyce It is with incredible sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Cathrene Joyce Booth on October 16 with family members at her side. Joyce is survived by her beloved husband Ken, sons Peter and John, sister Carole, brothers Calvin and Warren, daughter in law Rhonda, cherished granddaughter Julie, stepdaughters Colleen, Carol (Joel) and their children. Predeceased one week earlier by her loved and loving son Darcy. Joyce had beaten cancer once, but neither she nor Darcy could overcome complications from the disease a second time. Joyce was born in Winnipeg in 1935 and grew up in small town Manitoba and Ontario before joining the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1954 to see the world. She ended up in Langley, BC in 1972. She was a super busy woman who loved golf (and beating her sons at it) and was an active member and champion at Newlands Golf and Country Club. She loved fishing for coho in the Fraser River, too. She also enjoyed the super camaraderie and competitive feistiness of the Abreast in a Boat team in Fort Langley. She was a former rower with the team and when she passed, was co-manager of the team she loved so much and was so proud of. It is with disbelief and unbelievable sorrow that we say goodbye to her. Bye Mom. We love you. A Celebration of Life will be held November 7 at 2:00 p.m. in the Recreation Hall at Blue Heron Estates, 21065 56 Ave., Langley. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made under Contacts at www.abreastinaboat.com . Published in the Vancouver Sun and/or The Province on 10/24/2009
