TURNER Patricia (Benderski) Far too soon, after a battle fought hard and long, Patricia Turner has traveled to "the other side". Pat was born on March 15, 1948 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Christine Benderski. Pat is survived by her daughter Stacey Turner, grandson Spencer Kong and an unborn grandson. The loss of her presence on earth will be eternally mourned by her sister Janet Bray-Wiatrowski and brother-in-law Jay. She is also survived by her brothers Howard and Ron Benderski and their families. Pat spent the first part of her life in East Kildonan and Elmwood. At a young age she decided to experience living in other places. She has lived in Toronto, Seattle, Virginia and Vancouver, B.C. It was Vancouver that Pat enjoyed the most and resided most of her life there. Pat spent the majority of her employment working in hospitals. In June 2008 she began her retirement from G.F. Strong in Vancouver. Prior to that she worked for Shaughnessy Hospital, Vancouver General Hospital, and the Health Science Centre in Winnipeg. She also enjoyed her part-time job at B.C. Place and the opportunity to be around all the excitement of the concerts and events. Her final tribute cannot be complete without mentioning her love for Bruce Springsteen. In a four day space of time she went to three of his concerts; Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary, now that's a fan. My sister lead her life being a caring, loving, loyal, gentle mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend. She possessed a quirky, fun sense of humor as well as a "hobby" of collecting her treasures. She was involved in recycling long before it was popular. She was a true ambassador for the City of Vancouver, often being an impromptu tour guide for tourists and newcomers. If desired, donations to either the S.P.C.A. or the First United Spiritualist Church would be appreciated. Cremation has taken place. There will be no formal service. "You may rest now, Dear Sister". Condolences and tributes may be sent to the family by visiting www.mem.com . Published in the Vancouver Sun and/or The Province on 10/24/2009
