MIDLANE, Leah Winnifred November 9, 1919 October 13, 2009 Suddenly but peacefully Leah passed away at Luther Court, Victoria, BC. Born in Prince Rupert, she was raised in Alice Arm by her parents Frances & Herbert Kergin, MLA for Atlin from 1920-33. Leah attended Victoria High School and St Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing graduating as an RN in 1941. It was in the Isolation ward where she met patient Arthur Midlane, a merchant mariner, whom she married in Minneapolis, MN in 1943. Through the St Joseph's Alumni Assn she stayed friends with many classmates, the dearest being Vi Kerr. Leah lovingly raised her large family, always supporting their interests and activities. Fishing in `Kelpie' in Saanich inlet was a favourite pastime. In their retirement Leah & Art lived in Brentwood Bay enjoying the waterfront and rural lifestyle for many years. Art and daughter Joan predeceased Leah in 2001. She is lovingly remembered by Joan's family Bob Askew, Christine (Darren) Harbord, Ryan (Courtney); and also by daughter Bev (Darwin) Moseley, Mackenzie, Calvin; son Bruce (Margaret), Tod (Jayme), Laura (Pavel) Margolin; son Maurice, Marcel (Carrie), Mercedes; son Wayne (Mei), Alana, Jennifer; daughter Phyllis (Colin) Pendleton, Carmen, Robyn; great-grandchildren Travis, Caitlyn, Cameron and Caleb and other family. Friends are invited to a celebration of Leah's life to be held at Luther Court on Friday, October 30, 2009 at 3:00 PM.
