Margaret Anderson MUIR

STRUTHERS, Margaret "Madge " Anderson (nee Muir) Left this world on another adventure on October 21st, 2009. Born in Elfros, Saskatchewan, in 1913, Madge spent most of her youth in Saskatoon. She and her husband of 55 years, Dr. Rev. George Struthers, served in United Church ministries and community life in Sovereign, Sceptre, Eston, Regina, Burnaby and Vancouver before retiring to Victoria to enjoy many happy and fulfilling years with family and friends. They both felt blessed to have had so many acquaintances and known so many interesting people. Madge always said that everyone was worth knowing and the interest and connection she felt for old and new relationships attested to her belief that each day was a new adventure. Her latest endeavours included writing her memoirs for her family ~ 230 pages of recollections, information and photos recording her life history. She was especially proud to have five of her stories in a recently released First Metropolitan United Church publication: Stories United: Harvesting Elders' Wisdom. Madge is survived by her loving and admiring family: son, James (Yvonne) and grandsons Kelsey (Georgina) Stasiuk and Beau (Charlotte) Stasiuk; daughter, Elaine (Charles) Ryan and grandsons, Carl (Sandra) Ryan of Sherwood Park and Alex (Mari) Ryan of Kamloops. Madge was especially proud and blessed have known her greatgrandchildren, Brandon and Madison Ryan; Samantha and Jack Ryan and to welcome newborn Fynn Stasiuk of Houston, B.C. to the family. She was predeceased by her beloved first born son, Grant (age 5); her husband, George, in 1991; her only sibling, James Muir of Morecome, England in 1999 and her special buddy, Mary Mickleborough in 2005. She leaves many valued friends and relations (Scotland), her cherished cousins, Jean Pearpoint and Catherine McKay of North Vancouver and their families and her nephew, James Muir and family of Glenisla in Scotland. On behalf of Madge, the family would like to thank those caregivers at the Selkirk who showed Mom special kindnesses and care. She enjoyed and appreciated the "connections " she made there. "Connections " was Madge's favourite word of late. Friends can honour her memory by thinking about and acting on "connections " ~ past, present and future. A special family celebration and reunion will be held at a later date.
