FARGO , Frank AnthonyDecember 24, 1930 - October 13, 2009 Passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer. Frank is survived by his children Deborah Read, Karin Solta (Zdenko), Tanya Condran (Glenn), grandchildren Miranda, Daniel, Stephanie, three great-grandchildren, his extended family in Palermo, Italy and former wife and friend Henrica (Ria) Fargo. He was predeceased by his parents Baron Umberto and Baroness Anna Fargo, twelve brothers and sisters of Fiume, Italy and son Terry. Frank married Ria in Toronto in 1960, moved to Calgary and in 1976 founded Fargo Paint & Chem. Co. Ltd. manufacturing superior products and where he enjoyed chatting and joking with his customers. One of his many accomplishments was being instrumental in bringing the pandas to Calgary for the 1988 Olympics through his many trips to China, where he had been invited to aid the Chinese government in setting up paint factories. It resulted in a personal visit from (then) Mayor Ralph Klein thanking him for his efforts. Frank spent his last few years helping others, maintaining his endless repertoire of jokes, and at the end fighting the cancer that finally overtook him. He was a ferocious chess player, a devout hockey fan, a brilliant chemist and a truly memorable personality. His intelligence, his fondness for laughter and his inherent kindness and generosity of good will are how he will be remembered. Published in the Calgary Herald on 10/25/2009
