ROSE - David John Passed away at UBC Hospital Purdy Pavillion on Thursday, October 22, 2009. Born August 11, 1939 in Vancouver. David was raised and lived in the same house his entire life in Dunbar. He loved the Dunbar community and had many friends there. He was a passionate volunteer for the Olympics and Common Wealth games and travelled the world to watch the games. He was eagerly waiting for his notice of a volunteer position for the 2010 winter Olympics in Vancouver. He was a Grand Master Free Mason at Alliance Lodge No. 193 A.F. & A.M. and a loyal BC Tel employee for 35 years. He was a kind, curious and friendly man. He is survived by his sister Ann Hackett, nieces Terri, Sandie, Brenda, nephew Doug and their children, also by many relatives, friends and neighbours. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 30 at 11:00 am at St. Philip's Anglican Church 3737 W. 27th Ave, Vancouver. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, BC and Yukon Division. Have a laugh. Eat some ice cream. Hug someone and tell them you love them in honour of Uncle Dave.
