FARMER, Richard William Dick died at home Oct.22, 2009 after a four year illness. Until recently he got out on his scooter every day, especially to the golf course to collect lost balls and give them to his golfing friends. Dick was born Dec.10, 1927 in Winnipeg, Man. When he was four he had sense enough to bring his parents to the West Coast. As a young man he played rugby in high school and football at UBC. Later it was raquetball and tennis. He always loved the ocean and river fishing. Dick took engineering at UBC, but then decided he would rather be a chartered accountant. He worked for a CPA firm in Seattle and then for Delta Hotels in Vancouver. He enjoyed singing in the Vancouver Welsh Choir. After moving to the Island Dick taught accounting at Malaspina University and later at the Professional Development Institute of Tourism. He is survived by his wife Bertie and daughters Eileen, Andrea and Kathleen and son-in-law Greg. He is survived by five grandchildren; Lauren, Chris, Jennifer, Marykate and Brianna, and three great grandchildren. Memorial service will be Wed. Oct. 28 at St. Mark's Anglican Church, 138 W. Hoy Lake Rd, Qualicum Beach at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions to BC Lung Association would be appreciated. 2675 Oak St. Vancouver, V6H-2K2. 566262 Published in the Victoria Times-Colonist on 10/25/2009
