COUMANTARAKIS, Yolanda April 12, 1915- October 20, 2009 Yolanda passed away peacefully after a long and courageous battle with lung disease. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Alex (Sara), Irma (Jim); her four grandchildren, Diana, Mark, Briana, Lukas; great-grandchild Lillian; and several special friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony in 1976. Yolanda was born in Switzerland, growing up with her parents and three brothers. She spent time in Italy, France, Greece and Germany and was immersed in a world of cultural arts and music. Yolanda was a highly skilled pianist receiving top honors from the Institute of Music in Italy and a degree in Languages. She immigrated to Canada in 1953 to start her new life with her husband and young son making Canada her home. She opened her home to family and friends, sharing her European traditions of cuisine, music and art. Yolanda was a loving mother and "Nonna" who cherished her family above all. We will all miss her in our lives but feel her in our hearts forever. A Celebration of her life will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at Connelly - McKinley Funeral Home, 10011 - 114 Street, Edmonton.
