Harald Wolfgang KUCKERTZ

DR. HARALD WOLFGANG KUCKERTZ February 17, 1926 - October 19, 2009 Born in Dueren, Germany, Dr. Harald Wolfgang Kuckertz and his wife of 55 years, Dr. Berta E. Kuckertz, came to Canada in 1953. In Canada, he repeated his medical exams and subsequently worked in Macklin, Saskatchewan, Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan and from 1968 until 1974 as co-ordinator and later director of the Emergency Department at the University of Alberta Hospital. Due to poor health, he next worked part-time as general practitioner from 1975 to 1978 and from 1980 to 1984 as part-time medical officer for the University of Alberta Health Services. He was appointed an Honorary Member of the medical staff of the University of Alberta Hospital in 1985. He was a past president and long-time executive member of the Edmonton Chamber Music Society. Dr. Kuckertz was predeceased by his wife in 2008. He leaves to mourn his brother, Professor Erwin Kuckertz of Cologne, Germany; six nieces and nephews and their families, as well as other extended family and friends. At his request, no memorial service will be held. The family would like to thank Dr. Luyckx and the nursing staff of 5A2 at the University of Alberta Hospital for their compassionate care during Dr. Kuckertz' last days.
