Syd EDWARDS

EDWARDS On Friday, October 23, 2009, Syd Edwards, Broadview, Sask. passed away at the age of 92 years. A private family interment of cremated remains will take place in Broadview Cemetery in the summer of 2010. Syd was predeceased by his wife Flo in 1988, daughter Lynn Walsh in 1999, his parents Albert and Nellie Edwards, two brothers Don and Chris Edwards. Syd is survived by two sons, Rick (Anne) Edwards, and Garry (Jane) Edwards all of Calgary, five grandchildren: Jon (Taryn) Walsh and their family Trent and Regan; Stacey (Darren) Sharp and their daughter Makenna; Michael (Nikki) Walsh; Stephanie and Lauren Edwards and also his nieces and nephews. Syd was born in Broadview and with the exception of the war years he spent his entire life there. He worked in the family business with his brother Chris and his dad. A.W. Edwards and Sons was one of the oldest Massey dealerships in the world. Syd joined the RCAF in 1941 and was posted at various locations around the country. He spent the majority of the war at the research base at Suffield Alberta. It was here he met Flo whom he married shortly after the war. They settled in Broadview and Syd rejoined the family business. He and his brother Chris took over the business when their dad retired, eventually adding the Motel and Esso on the highway. Syd took up golfing when he retired and grew to love the sport. He stayed in the family home and continued driving until the last few weeks of his life. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Broadview Hospital, Lakeside Home in Wolseley and the Broadview Centennial Lodge for their wonderful care. We would also like to thank Dad's nephews, neighbors and friends for looking out for him in his later years.
