Roman Borysko November 12, 1940 October 25, 2009 Roman Borysko passed away in the presence of his family at St. Paul's Palliative Care Unit on Sunday, October 25, 2009 after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Bruno, SK. Roman is survived by his wife, Frances; children, Carolyn (Robert) Trost and their children Veronica and Andrew of Saskatoon, Gregory (Michelle) Borysko and their children Matthew, Lesya and Kathryn of Dallas, TX; brother, Michael (Josephine) of Saskatoon; sister in law, Phyllis Borysko of Bruno; uncle, Matt (Evelyn) Borysko of Saskatoon; and nephews, nieces, and relatives. He is predeceased by his parents, John and Helen (Smood) Borysko; his siblings, Morris, Anthony (in infancy), Verna Peters; and stepsister, Ann (Michael) Horodyski. Roman retired from C.P. Rail after 35 years of service. After retirement he volunteered numerous hours of work with St. John Ambulance, was an active member of the Knights of Columbus during which he served two terms as Grand Knight until his health failed. He did Parish and Knights of Columbus socials, volunteered for the Friendship Inn, served on the executive of the Columbian Care, Millennium 2000 Cross, etc. The family would like to thank the family physician Dr. Paul Taillon, Drs. J. Barton, S. Ahmed, K. Stakiw, numerous health care workers and staff for their compassionate care; also Fr. Dmytro Dnistrian for his healing prayers, etc. and all the Clergy, Pastoral Care, and other caregivers. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Roman Borysko to the Saskatoon Cancer Centre, 20 Campus Drive, Saskatoon, SK. S7N 4N4, the Canadian Diabetes Association, or to the Saskatoon Food Bank. Prayers will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. and the Divine Liturgy on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. Both services will be held at Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 10th Street East and Munroe Avenue, Saskatoon, with Rev. Fr. Dmytro Dnistrian, C.Ss.R., Celebrant. Interment will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Garden Of The Old Rugged Cross, Saskatoon, SK. To sign the online book of condolences visit www.parkfuneral.ca .
