DEWAR , Donald George February 10, 1919 - October 25, 2009 Don Dewar passed away peacefully with his beloved wife by his side on Sunday, October 25, 2009 at the Colonel Belcher Care Centre. Don leaves to mourn, his wife Alma (nee Hodgson); his cherished children, Joanne (Ross) Fiest, Pat (Paul) Cripps, Christopher (Wendy) Dewar; grandchildren, Reid and Kent Fiest, Vanessa and Adam Cripps, Anne Marie and Charlie Dewar. Don is also survived by his brother Robert (Bob) Dewar of Victoria, B.C. and predeceased by his parents, Cleveland and Hazel Dewar and five siblings. Don was born in Calgary in 1919. He joined the Army in 1939 and served six years overseas in England and other parts of Europe during WWII. When he returned to Canada he used his experience in the military to become a millwright, supervising the construction of hundreds of oil and gas plants across Western Canada. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony's Catholic Parish (5340 - 4 Street S.W.) on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Don's name directly to the Calgary Poppy Fund/Veterans' Food Bank, No. 1, 4539 - 6 Street N.E., Calgary, AB T2E 3Z6 (Phone 403-265-3604, www.calgarypoppyfund.com ).
