COOK, Verne Andrew On October 22, 2009, Verne Andrew Cook of Edmonton passed away at the age of 71 years, after a short, courageous battle with cancer. Verne is survived by his loving wife, Mary of 46 years; daughter, Shelby (Bob); son, Brad (Rammy); three precious granddaughters, Emily, Angela and Hope; two brothers, Gordon (Violet) and Donn (Wendy); sisters-in-law, Anne (Derk), Joyce, and Shirley; brothers-in-law, Johnny (Betty), and Roger (Tanya); numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives; many friends and co-workers. Verne was predeceased by his parents, Jean and Wilbert; brothers, Lorne and Barry. Verne was born in Spalding, Saskatchewan. He lived in the Wadena-Margo, Saskatchewan area before moving to Edmonton at a young age. He had a lengthy, successful career in the automobile industry and was a Fellow in the Loyal Order of Moose. The family wishes to thank friends and family who were so supportive during Verne's illness. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, October 29 at 3:30 p.m. at Park Memorial Chapel, 9709 - 111 Avenue with Pastor Rick Orsten officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Cross Cancer Institute, Alberta Cancer Foundation, 11560 University Avenue, Edmonton, AB T6G 1Z2.
