Ralph Cameron Sutherland June 24, 1923 October 27, 2007 I remember the man who carried me on his shoulders when I was five years old. I remember the man who let me use his car when I was learning how to drive. I remember the man who paid two months wages to an orthodontist to have my teeth straightened. I remember the man who gave me food and clothing and kept a roof over my head the whole time I was growing up. I remember the man who did his best to help me when I was trying to find employment. I remember the man who saved me from a life of manual labour by sending me to university for ten years. I remember the man who taught me how to tell what was right from what was wrong. I remember the man who raised me to be nobody's fool. I remember the man who tried his hardest and succeeded in holding his marriage together after my brother died. I remember the man who gave me the unconditional love I would need to endure all the cruelties and inequities of life. I remember the man who lived by the Ten Commandments his whole life.
