Lyla Wing, 84 Lyla Ruby Wing, 84, died October 8 at Brockville General Hospital. She was born May 3, 1920 in Augusta Township, the daughter of Herbert Thomas Newans and the former May McLean. She grew up in Maynard and kept house for her father on the family farm there. She later moved to Brockville, where she worked as a custodian at Brockville Collegiate Institute for 25 years until her retirement in 1980. She was a member of the Brockville 39 Club, enjoyed cooking, dancing and music, and driving new cars. Her main interests were her home and family. Mrs. Wing is survived by her two sons, Glen and friend Barbara of Kingston and Ron and wife Carol of Kitchener; three grandchildren, Glenda Brooks and spouse Chris LaFave, Shelly Wing and spouse Amy Wing-Pidgeon, and Christopher Wing; and three great-grandchildren, Jason, Ryan and Jason. Friends called at the Barclay Funeral Home, Brockville, where on October 12 the funeral was held, with Curt Boyko of the Brockville Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses officiating. Burial followed at Maynard Cemetery. Memorial donations were directed to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
