Lulu Gilmer, 87 KEMPTVILLE -- Lulu Gilmer, 87, died in her sleep at Kemptville District Hospital on November 8. She was born August 19, 1917 in Hainsville, Ont., the daughter of William and Cecilia Fader. She attended Hainsville Pubic School. On September 1, 1934, she married Clifford Gilmer at Brinston. During her married life she lived in Pleasant Valley, Hainsville, Hyndman and finally Kemptville. Most of her life she was a housewife and homemaker, but after the move to Kemptville in 1958, she was employed as a grocery store clerk. Later she worked as a cafeteria worker at North Grenville District High School. She was a resident at Bayfield Manor for 10 years, first in the retirement residence and later in the nursing home facility. She is survived by her youngest son, Glenn Gilmer of Brockville and two daughters-in-law, Moira (Mrs. Glenn Gilmer) and Ruth (Mrs. Paul Gilmer) of Ottawa. Also surviving are grandchildren Heather Hughes, Randi Gilmer, Christina Duncan and Ian Gilmer, and great-grandchildren Ryan, Maggie, Nicole, Elizabeth and Andrew. She was predeceased by her husband Clifford in 1995 and son Paul in 1999, as well as one sister, two brothers and her parents. Friends called at the Grant Brown Funeral Home-Rolston Chapel, Kemptville, where on November 9 the funeral was held, with Rev. Angela Bailey officiating. Burial took place later that day in the family plot at South Gower Cemetery. The pallbearers were Douglas, Dalton, Randi and Ian Gilmer, David Duncan, Randy Hughes and Mike Valcour.
