Don Beattie, 67 Donald Clifton "Don" Beattie, 67, died suddenly November 3 at his home in Brockville. He was born October 22, 1937 in Ottawa to John Beattie and the former Evelyn Selleck. He was raised and educated in Ottawa and moved to Brockville in 1955. On May 9, 1959 he married Marion Younger in Parkdale United Church, Ottawa. Mr. Beattie worked at Automatic Electric for 45 years. When he retired, it was called Brock Telecom. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and socializing with friends and neighbours. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by his sons Jim and Bruce and daughter Dawna Sands and husband Steve Sands, all of Brockville, and grandchildren Stephen, Cody, Curtis, Kristen, Megan, Thomas, Connor and Ethan. Also surviving are his brother Neil Beattie and wife Carol of Mississauga and sister Beverley Carroll and husband Wayne of Ottawa, as well as several nieces and nephews, an aunt Dorla "Dolly" Lennox of British Columbia and lifelong friends Bev and Doug Smith. He was predeceased by his wife Marion (July 8, 2004), his parents, his mother-in-law Rebecca Younger and father-in-law William Younger. Friends called at the Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, Brockville where on November 9 the funeral was held, with Rev. Dr. Alan Bennett officiating. Burial took place November 25 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Maitland, following a private service. Memorial donations were directed to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
