FARMER, Paul Murray Murray passed away at home on October 25, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer. He will be fondly remembered by his wife Kaye, son Ian, daughter Susan, sisters Beryl, San Diego and Marilyn (Ray Rixon), Ottawa, brother Allan (Mauretta), Mexico, cousin Catherine Mackenzie, Victoria, nieces and nephews. Murray was born on June 19, 1933, in Vancouver, but spent his younger years in Halifax, attending Queen Elizabeth High School and Dalhousie University. Most of his life's work was as a cartographer with the Canadian Hydrographic Service in Ottawa and Victoria. He was always physically active and was involved in racquet sports until tendonitis caused him to turn his attention to serious walking, joining Garden City Wanderers Volkssport Club in 1991 as an active participant and walk organizer. He enjoyed traveling and walking through Volkssport in Canada and other countries and appreciated learning about different cultures. He wished that people could have a greater understanding and acceptance of others' views and beliefs, leading to a better world for all. Murray was a gentleman in the true sense of the word. His caring nature touched the lives of many friends and relatives; he will be truly missed. Murray requested no service. He wished people to remember him as they knew him. Please no flowers. Memorial contributions can be made for cancer research through the BC Cancer Foundation, 2410 Lee Ave, Victoria, BC V8R 6V5 or online at www.bccancerfoundation.com , or to a charity of your choice. 566589 Published in the Victoria Times-Colonist on 10/28/2009
