LOW, William George July 29, 1930 October 22, 2009 It is with great sadness that the family of George Low announces the passing of our husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. George passed away peacefully with his family by his side on October 22, 2009. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 52 years, Carol; children Cynthia (Bernd), Kelly (Dario), Megan (Terry), Stephen (Donna), and Mia; grandchildren Jason (Jada), Eric, Brendan, Rachel, Kristof, Mikaela, Giordano, Kaitlyn, Cory, Taurean, Delaney, and Lauryn; and great grandchildren Saylor and Kaelen. Born in 1930 in Fergus, Ontario, George attended the University of Toronto, where he received his degree in Chemical Engineering. He also attended Columbia University's Graduate School of Business in New York. His work in the Pulp and Paper Industry took him to Trois Rivieres, Gatineau, and La Tuque, Quebec (CIP), the Philippines (PICOP, TIPCO), as well as Port Alberni and Powell River, B.C. (MacMillan Bloedell). George's achievements and accomplishments are too numerous to mention. Suffice it to say he was greatly respected and admired for his integrity, strength of character, loyalty, and his dedication to his wife and family. He had a strong work ethic and he inspired everyone to do their best and live up to their potential. He never wasted a moment; he loved spending time with his family, working on new challenges, playing golf and travelling, with Carol always by his side. He held a special place in his heart for the Philippines and the Filipino people, where his family resided for many years. A service will be held on Monday, November 2, at 11:00 a.m. at Church of the Ascension, 887 Wembley Road, Parksville.
