PROULX Irene Blanche (Bell) It is with great sadness that the loving family of Irene Proulx announces her passing on October 23, 2009. She died peacefully at Delta View Life Enrichment Centre in her 91st year. Predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years, "Gerry," she will be deeply missed by her daughters Nikki (Bill), Bonnie (Bob), Geraldine (Joseph), Louise, and Faye; 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Alice Drinkwater and Anne Bell, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Irene was a lifetime member of the New Westminster Native Daughters and their pianist for many years. She was also a talented artist, craftsperson, and musician; and an ardent lover of animals large and small. Retirement years with Gerry were particularly happy, filled with family and friends, golfing, and travel. Despite the adversity Irene faced in recent years, her ready smile, generous laugh, and sense of humor remained with her to the end. Her family would like to express their gratitude to her wonderful caregivers at Delta View, who allowed her to live with dignity, and her loving friend "Sharkey" Phipps, who brought joy to "Beanie Bell's" life. A service and celebration of Irene's life will be held at Christ Church, 16631 Old McLellan Road, Surrey, Saturday, October 31, 2:00 pm, 604-576-2216. In lieu of flowers, donations to Delta View Life Enrichment Centre, the Alzheimer's Society, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation are greatly appreciated.
