Donald Steinburg GANANOQUE -- After a long illness with Alzheimer's disease, Donald "Don" Steinburg, 77, died December 23 at the Brockville Psychiatric Hospital, Geriatric Ward F. He was born in Winchester Township to Walter and Alice Steinburg and grew up in Prescott. He worked for Dominion Stores for 15 years. In 1957 he married Nancy Lloyd and in 1959 they moved to Gananoque, where he operated his own store, Steinburg's Grocery and marina, for six years. After that he worked in car sales for Carl's Place and Gananoque Chev Olds until his retirement in 1994. He is survived by his wife Nancy Steinburg and their two children, Susan St. Amand and husband Pierre and James Steinburg and wife Maxine, as well as five grandchildren, Louis Philippe, Rachelle and Luke St. Amand and Kaitlyn and Brent Steinburg. He was predeceased by his parents and brother Robert. Friends called at the Tompkins Funeral Home, Gananoque, where on December 29 a memorial service was held. The rite of committal and burial took place at Willowbank Cemetery, Gananoque. Memorial donations were directed to the Alzheimer Society.
