Marshall DARLING

DARLING, Marshall 1919 - 2009 Passed away on October 27, 2009. Marsh is survived by Lavina, his loving wife of 68 years; sons Dave (Lynora) of Kelowna and Don (Sharron) of Edmonton; granddaughters Kim (Richard), Robyn and Kelly (Brett); and three great grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Fiona and Matthew. Marsh joined the Edmonton Fire Department in 1941 and served there for 37 years with a year away for service in the Canadian Navy. He was an outstanding athlete with a passion for golf, and curling. In the early 1960's he became one of the first members of Sturgeon Valley Golf and Country Club and was instrumental in its development. He was honoured with a Life Membership for that contribution. Marsh was a long time member of the Maple Leaf Athletic Club (where he coached and mentored many young, aspiring hockey players). In 1950, he was Captain of the Edmonton Mercurys when they won the World Hockey Championship. Memorial arrangements will be announced at a later date.
