It is with deep sadness in our hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Scott Elkes on October 24, 2009 at the age of 47. Scott will be lovingly remembered by his family: Suzanne, wife of 25 years and his loving sons, Alan and Cory, of Westlock; and his Mother Vera Elkes of Edmonton. He is also survived by his sisters, Linda (Ray) Hart of Ponoka, Alberta, their sons Ryan and Sean, and their three grandchildren, and his sister Cheryl (Colin) McGarrigle of Edmonton, children Miranda and Evan DeVries, and their grandchildren. His also survived by many loving cousins and aunts and uncles, and numerous friends. He is predeceased by his Father, Frederick Elkes and his nephew Kyle Hart. Scott was born in Cocoa Beach, Florida, as his Father was stationed there in the Canadian Air Force. He lived in Bagotville, Quebec, Lahr, Germany, then Borden, Ontario, before heading out to Edmonton as a young adult, where he attended NAIT. He had a 28 year career with CN Railways, which, ultimately led him and his family to an acreage in Westlock, Alberta. Scott was an avid sports fan. He played baseball and golfed, and loved his Hamilton Tiger Cats, his Raiders, and Philly Flyers. He loved to cook for his family and friends and considered himself quite a gourmet especially with the barbecue. He was passionate about his music, and considered the time he met Alice Cooper and had his picture taken with him, one of his proudest moments.Scott will be terribly missed by all his family and friends. He left us far too soon. There will be a Celebration of Scott's Life at the Westlock Legion on Friday, November 13th, 2009, starting at 4:00 p.m. Scott's family wish to extend their heartfelt thanks to everyone who has been so supportive during these difficult days.
