Leslie SADLER

Leslie Sadler (1920-2009) Leslie Sadler, who was born on September 29, 1920 in Sheffield, England, passed away on October 5, 2009 in Saskatoon. One of four brothers who served in the British Armed Forces during the Second World War, he enlisted in the R.A.F. in 1941 as an aircraftsman and was sent to Canada with the Commonwealth Training Plan. He married Pauline Tkachuk in 1942 and shortly after was transferred to England. Pauline and infant Beverly followed him to England only to find he was soon to be sent to Singapore. After the war the family moved to Canada, where Les worked as a mechanic in Unity and Saskatoon before assuming positions first with Studebaker and later with Lincoln Engineering. Left to mourn him are his daughter, Beverly Oster (John) and sons, Leslie (Michelle) and Raymond; grandchildren, Kathy, Tanya, Chelsea, Regan, and Liam; and great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Lisa, Rachel, Jordan, Zoe, Cheyanne, and Kai; and his special friend, Helen. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Vi in England; his brother-in-law, Louis Tkachuk; and his sister-in-law, Mary Zaichkowsky. He was predeceased by his brothers, Harold, Raymond, and Leonard and his sister, Rose. Les was an active member of the Canadian Legion with 59 years of service, much of it with the Nutana Branch. Among his many interests were ham radio, computer technology, antique cars, and bowling. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Christ Church Anglican, 515 28th Street West, Saskatoon, SK. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.
