HALPERT George It is with great sadness that the family of George Halpert announces his passing on Saturday, October 3rd, 2009 at the age of 91 years. Our beloved father was born Jerzy Maria Krzysztof Karol Halpert-Scanderbeg on July 6, 1918 in Szczekociny, Poland and was predeceased by; his parents, Tadeusz Wlodzimierz Halpert-Scanderbeg and Countess Maria Stefania Myszkowska-Wielopolska, his wife Rubena Marie Norton, and two brothers, Zygmunt and Tadeusz. George Halpert was a WWII hero and was stationed in England. He won the Cross of Valour serving as the 1st Lieutenant Commander of the 1st Polish Independent Paratroop Airborne Brigade in the battle at Arnhem. He immigrated to Canada after the war and married Rubena Marie Norton. George Halpert is survived by his five children, Wanda, Helen, Mary, George and Mark, four grandchildren, Dhyan, Alexander, James, Elysia, and great-granddaughter Nichaela. He was a loving father and we will always hold him close in our hearts. The family would like to thank Vince Woodman, John Howard and the staff at Kopernic Lodge for their loving care of our father.
