DERMODY John Ford December 7, 1911 - October 8, 2009 Ford was born in Kipling Saskatchewan, the eldest child of eight. At 19 he was part owner of the General Store in, Antler Saskatchewan. Then moving on to future stores in Kisby, Saskatchewan, and Agassiz, B.C The young family moved to Cloverdale in 1950. Ford and Pearl ran the Cloverdale General Store and later Dermody Drygoods (formerly Curtis Drygoods) for many years. He was a founding member and manager of the Valley Curling Club for 18 years. After retirement he continued to organize the Seniors Bonspiel and enjoyed keeping in touch with "the old boys". They travelled to the Prairies every summer to visit family and long time friends. Ford is survived by his brother Fred, son Wayne (Diana), son Ken (June), daughter Donna (Ken) Bosman, Grandchildren Leighann, Kevin, Pamela, Darren, Elisabeth, Ryan and Craig. Great-grandchildren Dayna, Kylie, Andrew, Trevor, Nia, Cole, Tova, Seamus and Tristan. Ford and Pearl were wonderful parents and devoted grandparents. The children felt privileged to have had them in their lives. Ford is predeceased by his wife Pearl, grandson Brennan, brothers Allan, Lawrence, Neil, sisters Audry, Dorothy, Betty. Funeral Service will be held at Precious Blood Parish 17475, 59th Ave Cloverdale, on Friday, October 16 at 11:00 am. Interment following the service at Surrey Centre cemetery. Refreshments will be served in the Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer Society of B.C 300-828, W. 8th Ave Vancouver, V5Z 1E2 would be welcome.
