MCEWEN, Jennie (nee Ramsey) Born January 3rd, 1924, 85 years of age, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2009, surrounded by her loving family at Malden Park Continuing Care Centre. Beloved wife and best friend of 51 years to William McEwen. Loving mother of Carol & Bev Thibodeau of St. Mary's, Gail & the late Jim Brown (2000) of Putman, Brian Hatfield of Essex, Brenda Fonger of St. Thomas, the late Lorraine Rivait (1992), Stewart & Julie McEwen of Essex, and the late Stevie McEwen (1967). Grandmother of Joedy & Brian Wood, Todd & Becky Thibodeau, Steve Brown & Flo, Mike Brown, Tracy Harrison & Chris, Darren & Nicole Hatfield, Tina Calvert, Damon Rivait & Kim, Crystal & Scott McArthur, the late Tiffany McEwen (1984), Candice & Rick Dalziel. Great-grandmother of Kailyn & Scott Wood, Rene & Cory Thibodeau, Brett Harrison, Cameron Hatfield, Tiffany Calvert, and Nicholas Dalziel, great-great grandmother of Alex & Jennifer Calvert. Jennie will be reunited with her parents the late Jennie & Tom Ramsey. Dear sister of the late Tommy Ramsey (1952) Jack & the late Fern Ramsey (2002), Syd & the late Bill Chapman (1972). Many nieces and nephews survive Aunt Jennie. Jennie will be missed by her constant companion Benny her beloved dog. All who knew her knew Jennie's love of dogs. Jennie was a retiree from the Essex Nursing Home where she spent 20 years in the laundry department. She will be sadly missed by her many friends and wonderful neighbors. Family will receive friends at the Secord & Smith Funeral Home, Cozy Corners, Maidstone, (519-737-1133) on Wednesday, October 14, 2009, from 2-5pm and 7-9pm, cremation to follow. A private family interment of Jennie's cremated remains will be conducted at Elmdale Cemetery, St. Thomas. Memorials may be made to Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
