Rein Arthur Henry October 17, 1913 October 13, 2009 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Arthur Henry Rein. Art was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. A Celebration of Art's life will be held at the Saskatoon Funeral Home, 338 4th Ave. N. in Saskatoon on Friday, October 16, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. Art was born in Transcona, MB and moved to Saskatoon with his parents and siblings. Art graduated from Caswell School in 1927; City Park Collegiate in 1931 and Moose Jaw Normal School in 1932. He began his teaching career in 1933 in a one-room country school. He taught in one and two room schools until 1942. Art enlisted in the RCAF in 1942 and received his discharge in 1945. Art taught for 2 more years before returning to the University of Saskatchewan graduating in 1950 with a Bachelors of Arts & Education Degrees. He went on staff with the Saskatoon Collegiate Board in 1951 and retired as Principal of Nutana Collegiate in 1975. During his life Art was very active in track and field events, baseball, curling and golfing, getting a hole-in-one during his 80th year. Art joined the RCAF Reserve in 1955 and retired as commanding officer of the Technical Training Unit (Res) in 1965. Summer holidays were looked to as a time for camping, and over the years the tent was pitched from Victoria, B.C. to Prince Edward Island, Washington, D. C. to Seattle, Washington State. Shortly after retiring Art and Lois toured Europe and the Pacific Rim. Following that they spent 20 winters in Mesa, Arizona. Art will be lovingly remembered by his family; wife of 66 years Lois; children Judy (Les) of Edmonton, Art Jr. (Susan) of Beausejour and Shirley (Ron) of Saskatoon; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; nephew Art Morrow, Richmond, BC; and many friends. Art was predeceased by his parents Julia and Henry Rein and three sisters Martha (George) Lander, Mary (Fred) Wytowich and Margaret (Bill) Morrow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Luther Special Care Home 1212 Osler St., Saskatoon, SK., S7N OT9 or the charity of one's choice. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
