Afke GORTER

TRUSCOTT-In loving memory of Afke Truscott(nee Gorter), 94, who passed away peacefully November 5, 2008. A war bride from Holland she would meet new Dutch immigrants at the train station in Regina making life long friends. A teacher back home she became a committed teachertherapist of children at the Physical Restoration Centre (now Wascana Hospital) in the 50's, 60's and 70's. She is predeceased by her husband, Alfred and survived by her loving son, Harwood; grand daughter, Chris; her spouse, Mike Mortin; great grand children, Nathan, Sahcia and Zoe; her god daughters, Margareth Elliott and Monica Zimmer; her Dutch family, including nieces, Rinska Bouma and Dora de Weerd and cousins, Visserman of Heeg, as well by her loving extended family of friends like Nyna, Ernest and Tamra Marr, Carey and Louis Hauer, Jan and Muriel Maandag, Pat Robinson, Brenda Laaf, Wyn Wiley and Elizabeth and Gerry Matthyssen who found her to be a gracious and special woman providing support and comfort. We thank Dr. S. Arndt for her personal touch and attention, and Katherine, Agnus and Adelle of We Care for their gentleness and loving care. A celebration for family will be held at her home Saturday, November 15, 2008. In lieu of flowers please donate to World Vision Christmas Gift program.
