William `Bill' Wiwchar January 14, 1926 August 31, 2009 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William Wiwchar at Royal University Hospital at the age of 83 years. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Ottillia `Tillie' Wiwchar; as well as three children, Rosemarie Thompson, Ron (Sherry) Wiwchar, and Margaret (Ralph) Woloschuk; six grandchildren, Blair Wiwchar, Keith (Tracy) Wiwchar, Heather (Eli) Buzila, Tara (Kellie Harrisson) Woloschuk, Adam (Lindsay) Thompson, and Brandon Woloschuk; one brother, Paul (Olga) Wiwchar; and many sistersand brothers-inlaw. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Mary (Kushnir) Wiwchar; his little sister, Annie; his older brother, Joseph; six brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law, and one nephew. Bill was born in Melville, Saskatchewan on January 14, 1926. He worked in Melville as an engineer for the CNR. While in Melville, Bill was active on city council, many committees, and civic and provincial park boards. He was proud to be a Mason and a Shriner. In 1975, Bill and Tillie moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba, where Bill was employed as a master mechanic with the CNR. Later, he was employed by Transport Canada. Bill was completely retired at the age of 70 in 1996. Bill and Tillie moved to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 1997. After moving to Saskatoon, Bill enjoyed a good round of golf, watching sports on television, and playing cribbage, dominoes, and beanbag toss with his grandchildren. In Saskatoon, he was involved in the local pension committee for the CNR. Throughout his life he enjoyed camping, traveling, and spending special get-togethers with the family. In February of this year, Bill and Tillie celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. In the last month of his life, Bill was surrounded by his immediate family and under constant loving care from his wife Tillie, who was with him when he passed on. The family would like to send heartfelt thanks to the wonderful, caring staff at Royal University Hospital, Unit 2, Ward 6200. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, the Canadian Diabetes Association, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
