McMULLEN - Sylvia F.E. (nee Bourne) 03/22/45 - 09/23/09 Passed away suddenly of congestive heart failure. She was born in Vancouver and lived on Gambier Isl. on a small chicken farm with mother Florence, father Edward Bourne and half brother Albert Coward, who all have predeceased her. Married young to Frank McMullen she had 2 children, Edward (1962) and Cheryl (1963) (Brad), 3 grandchildren, James, Stacey and Cindy. She leaves behind partner in life of 41 years Patrick Hartford. Sylvia worked for the Bank of Montreal at 10th and Granville for 32 years to retirement and another 6 years part time as a check fraud detecter. Gardening gave her particular joy and she loved all sports - played on the bank baseball team and bowled 10 pin for many years. She enjoyed knitting and cross stitch, etc making many baby outfits for family and friends, and afghans she loved to give away. Her Boxing Day open house became a Christmas tradition for lots of family, friends and neighbors. She was much loved and will be missed by many including Shilo. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at Revs Bowling Centre, 5502 Lougheed Hwy, Burnaby on October 17, 1-4 pm. In lieu of flowers donations to Children's Hospital.
