HARVEY-Donna Catherine Jane (Lauder), age 83, passed away peacefully November 14, 2008 after a long illness, with family by her side. Donna was predeceased by her husband Gordon in 2005, her parents, Bob and Jean Lauder, Sister Bernice Lovell, brothers-inlaw Tom Kines, Orville Lovell, Ian Harvey and Aitken Harvey. Donna is survived by daughters Janet (Erin Shoemaker) Mavis, and Glenna; grandchildren Kim, Colin (Maegan) and Allison Henkel; greatgrandson Caden Henkel; sister Mavis Kines; sisters in-law Betty (Ian) Holmes, Jean and Ruth Harvey; and several nieces and nephews. Donna was born in Winnipeg in 1925, the youngest of three daughters of a Scottish immigrant father and ScottishCanadian mother. Donna was raised in North End Winnipeg, graduated from St. John's High School and attended United College for one year. As a young woman Donna worked as a secretary. After the war Donna met Gordon Harvey at Westminster United Church Young Peoples' club. They were married in 1950. They lived for a short time in Regina, back to Winnipeg for Gordon to finish his Commerce degree, on to the Montreal area, a short time in Saskatoon, finally settling in Regina in 1965. Donna returned to the work force after her children were in school, working for the Department of Health and Welfare, retiring from a supervisory position. Donna took great pleasure in all her family, taking an active role in the lives of her three grandchildren, and great pride in her great grandson. Donna loved people and books. She made many friends, among fellow homemakers in Quebec, fellow workers, fellow retirees at the coffee shop, and fellow residents at Selo Gardens Personal Care Home. Donna was a dedicated library patron from childhood. Donna's family thanks the staff at Selo Gardens Personal Care Home and Pasqua Hospital Palliative Care Unit for their care. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Lee Funeral Home, 3101 Dewdney Ave. with Rev. Erin Shoemaker officiating. Internment will take place at Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to a charity of your choice. Published in the Regina Leader-Post from 11/15/2008 - 11/17/2008
