HOLMAN, Robert L. July 9, 1921- August 26, 2009 Mr. Bob Holman passed away in Calgary at the age of 88 years. Bob is survived by his son, Robert S. (Dorothy), daughter-in-law, Linda Holman; grandchildren: McKinnis and Katlan Holman, Brandy (Eric) Krenz and Jason (Kerine) Holman; great-grandchildren: Jayleen, Braydon, Erin and Kaelynn; sister, Norma Horsman and brother-in-law, Stuart (Elva) Finlay. Bob was predeceased by his wife, Vera in 2004 and son, Brent in 2007. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Devon Legion Hall with Reverend Audrey Mitchell officiating. Interment of urn to follow in Peace Cemetery, Devon Alta. in the veteran's plots. Bob lived in Devon from the town's creation in 1947 to 2004. Bob and his brother Harvey built and ran the first grocery store in town. Income from the store could not really support two growing families so Bob left the store to Harvey and started a 30 year career with Imperial Oil, first as a battery operator, then as a gas plant technician and finally as a production accountant. Bob's wife Vera was a long time teacher in the Devon Elementary, Junior and High schools. Bob and Vera's, two sons, Brent and Bob Jr. went into the Alberta Radio and Television Arts and the oil industry respectively.
