SHORTREED, Jack (Shorty) It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jack Shortreed, on November 13, 2008, due to complications from heart surgery. He was born in Nanaimo, June 18, 1928 and attended school in Caycuse and Extention. He graduated in Duncan and went to work with his Dad firing locomotive. In 1950 he married Nelda Reid (The Warden) and then went to work in Kemano for Morrison Knuteson, as a lineman. They moved to Duncan in 1955 and continued working as a lineman for B.C. Hydro till his retirement. He enjoyed photography, computers, gardening, wood working and spending time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren and his little dog Babe". Pre-deceased by his mother and father and his sister (best friend) Loraine. He is survived by his wife Nelda of 57 years, 6 children, Ric (Marlene), Gary (Carrie), Greig, Jeanette (Dave), Jennifer (Pete) and Leigh, along with 12 grandchildren, and 5 Great grandchildren. Also survived by his 2 sisters, Kay Rogers and Jeanie Virtanen, his two sister-inlaws, Hen and Marge Reid, brother in law Lyle Reid and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Wong, Dr. Meakes, Barb and Jan, and all the nurses for their exceptional care on the third, fourth, and fifth floors of the Royal Jubilee Hospital. No service by request, a tea will be held at Glenora Hall on Friday, Nov 21, 2008 from 1:00 3:00.
