Joyce Dawna GRIFFIN

MARKEL Joyce Dawna (nee Griffin) Born April 13, 1940 in Nelson, B.C. passed away peacefully October 14, 2009 in Port Moody, B.C. after a short battle with cancer. Joyce will be missed by husband Don Markel; daughter Lee-Ann Holbrook (Mike Todd); sons Ryan and Tyler Markel; son-in-law Greg Holbrook, grandchildren Brayden and Kara Holbrook. Joyce leaves many friends and relatives. Joyce attended Burnaby North high school before completing her education at the VGH School of Nursing. Joyce left her occupation as an E.R. nurse at the Vancouver General Hospital to partner in business with Don in 1977. During the 30 years Don and Joyce ran BME Supply in Port Coquitlam, they also raised their family. Joyce's loves included crafting, shopping, bowling, travel, elaborate turkey dinners, and movies on Channel 45 (the horror channel). Most of all she loved her family. Joyce had a personality that lit up a room. She spent much of her life creating not just a family, but a home. Her positive attitude, love and strength will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 22, 2009 at First Memorial Burkeview Chapel, 1340 Dominion Avenue, Port Coquitlam, B.C.
