MARCOTTE Helen June 15, 1923 - October 12, 2009 Helen Marcotte (nee Buchnia) passed away peacefully in her sleep at 1:40am on October 12, 2009 at Ruskin Hill (Baillie House) in Maple Ridge. She was preceded in death by her son Wayne and husband Onile (Neil). She is survived by her daughters Donna (John) and Debbie, her son Doug and sister Vicki Zaplachinski as well as many nieces, nephews and good friends. Besides being a loving wife and mother, she enjoyed sewing, needlework and all types of crafts. Helen loved to bake homemade bread and make her famous cabbage rolls and perogies. She loved to entertain and always had a houseful of parties, cards or just visiting. Helen was Past President and a Lifetime Member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Army, Navy & Air Force Beterans in Canada, Pompier 314. Helen and Neil travelled extensively in their retirement years all over Canada and the United States and they took cruises as well as trips to China and the Cook Islands, Helen was a loving, kind and gentle soul, a wonderful Mother, wife and friend. She leaves behind many happy and special memories for all who knew and loved her. She always was and will be our Angel. Special thanks to Dr. Botha and the Staff at Ruskin Hill at Baillie House for the extraordinary compassion, affection and care they provided to our Mother in the 5 years she was in their care. Following a private family burial at Ocean View Burial Park on October 19, 2009 a Memorial Service will be held at Hamilton Harron Funeral Home, 5390 Fraser St., Vancouver, BC, at 1:30pm.
