MARTHA McAVOY It is with great sadness that the family of Martha McAvoy announces her passing on October 18th, 2009 at the age of 78 years. Born in Lost River (near Nipawin) on June 20th, 1931, Martha spent most of her life in Saskatoon. She will be dearly missed by her family, son, Kelvin (Diane) Boechler and their children, Katie (Kristen) and Amy; daughter, Terri (Ken) Blue and their children, Adam, Josh, Tiana and Jillian; daughter, Patti Boechler and her children, Camryn and Jace, and son, Dave (Laverne) Boechler and their children, Pamela and Justin. She will also be remembered by her brother, Rudy (Alison) Neufeld and their children, Cory, Scott (Brenda), Glenys; and Erin (Ian) Stanley; she is also survived by her step family, the McAvoy's children and their families. Martha's life was guided by her faith. She was a wife and mother, devoted to her family. She faced all challenges with tenacity and optimism. Her kind, generous spirit touched many through her willingness to share her time and creative talents. Martha had many interests such as sewing, quilting, knitting, painting, making rosaries, cooking and travelling. She took pleasure in meeting new people and gladly participated in activities that strengthened her social community. She had countless friends, was second Mom to many, and kept in touch with people all over the world. Martha was predeceased by her mother, Tina Gollan; father, Cornelius Neufeld; husband, James McAvoy; her first husband, Robert Boechler and her son, Joseph Boechler; and her nephew, Sean. The Vigil for Martha will be held on Thursday, October 22nd at 7:30 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 23rd at 10:30 a.m., with both services at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church (110-104th ST. W.). Rite of Committal will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery. Since Martha supported many causes, in lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of choice.
