Mary Olfert December 5, 1919 October 18, 2009 Mary Olfert (nee Lesser) was born on the family farm northwest of Hague on December 5, 1919. She attended her school years at Heidelberg District, completing Grade 9. Mom was baptized upon her confession of faith in the Hague Mennonite Church. She married Abram Olfert on December 7, 1941 in the Hague Mennonite Church. They farmed in the Rosthern area until 1962, when they became business entrepreneurs in Hague. They built the Hague apartments, which Mom operated until 1977. Other business ventures were the M & M Grocery Store and Restaurant and the Silver Spur Restaurant and Gas Station. After the passing of her husband, she moved to Sunset Manor in Hague, where she enjoyed fourteen years. Her last homes have been PineView Manor and the Mennonite Nursing Home in Rosthern. Mom is survived by her loving family: Maryann (Wally) Hamm, Ruth (Bob) Doell, Ella (Harry) Penner, (Victor Phoenix), Edwin (Lorraine) Olfert, Mabe (Les) Nesbitt, Bev (Ivan) Gabrysh, Belinda (Wayne) Reddekopp, Karen (Rick) Penner; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; brother, Henry (Lena) Lesser; sisters-in-law, Martha Neufeld and Tina Doell. Mom was predeceased by her husband, Abram; parents, Conrad and Mary Lesser; step-mother, Margaretha Lesser; children, Abie, Anthony and Dora; siblings, Rosie (Fred) Knippel, Edna (Walter) Harder, Mike (Mary) Lesser, Esther (Jake) Giesbrecht, Frederick Lesser, Peter Lesser, and Helen Lesser. Family was the most important to Mom. Fairness among her ten children and teaching us strong work ethics continued until her dying day. Music and singing was a big part of her life. Mom will be dearly missed. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at Hague Mennonite Church with Pastor Artur Esau officiating.
