Kurt ZIMMERMAN

Kurt Zimmerman June 30th, 1923 October 19th, 2009 The peaceful passing of Mr. Kurt Zimmerman, age 86 years of Saskatoon, SK, occurred on Monday, October 19, 2009 at Luther Sunset Home, Saskatoon, SK. Kurt was born in Lotz, Poland. After the Second World War he moved to Germany, settling in Buedeningen, a small village near Frankfort. It was there he met Maria Dyck. They married on January 18th, 1947. In June 1949, they immigrated to Canada starting out on a farm at Waldheim, SK. The next year, 1950, they moved to Saskatoon. Kurt worked for Sask Power for 35 years. He enjoyed brick laying, gardening and photography. He also liked to travel and holiday. Left to cherish Kurt's memory four sons, Peter (Donna), David (Myra), Henry (Paula), Walter Zimmerman; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brother, Fred of Germany; brother-in-law, Henry (Dorothy) Dyck; sisterin-law, Margaret Doerksen; and numerous nieces and nephews. Kurt was predeceased by his loving wife, Maria and brother, Fritz. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 23rd, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home (east on 8th Street, turn right before railway crossing). Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Donations in Kurt's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Society (1405 Faulkner Crescent, Saskatoon, SK S7L 3R5).
