John Joseph BAXTER

BAXTER, John Joseph October 10th 1923 October 28th 2009 John was a loving husband to Doris, devoted father to son, Warren (Elizabeth), granddaughter Sarah (Greg Cormier), great grandson Denis, granddaughter Jillian (Brandon Harvey), daughter Wendy (John Welch) and grandsons Baxter, Sam and Duncan, sisters Patricia (Myhill-Jones) and Rita (Blair Cafferky) and brother, Jim as well as his many caring nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his beloved son, Denis, and sister Marion (Ellis). Dad was born and raised in North Vancouver, B.C. He worked briefly for Boeing in Vancouver before joining the RCAF and being stationed at Patricia Bay on Vancouver Island. John married Doris, his high school sweetheart, before he joined The B.C. Electric Company in 1945. He worked from conception to completion on the High Arrow and Mica dams. Mum and Dad enjoyed their homes in West Vancouver, Westbank, Nanoose, and the Saanich Peninsula. Holidays to Mexico were a special treat. He retired early from the now B.C. Hydro after 36 years of service. Retirement for Dad was a chance to do wee" building projects, have friends in for a wee tich", and to refine the art of tomato production. We so love and miss you, Dad. A Funeral Mass will be held at 1pm, Saturday Nov 7th, at Our Lady of the Assumption, 7742 West Saanich Road, Saanichton, B.C. with a reception from 2:30 to 4P.M. at the Waters Edge Village Clubhouse, 2600 Fergusson Road, Saanichton, B.C. 567228 Published in the Victoria Times-Colonist from 11/1/2009 - 11/6/2009
