DEANS, Albert George Stephen November 8, 1918 - October 29, 2009 It is with great sadness that the family of Albert (Al) George Deans announces his passing on October 29, 2009, just 10 days before his 91st birthday. Al leaves behind Jean, his wife of 62 years, his son Paul and daughter-in-law Pat, his sister Betty Cashman, numerous nieces and nephews, and a lifetime of fond memories. Al was predeceased by his brother John and his sister Mary Bell. Al proudly served in the Canadian Armed Forces from 1944 to 1970 before embarking on a second career with Alberta Blue Cross. He enjoyed fishing, curling and camping, and played a mean game of bridge. Travelling was also a favourite pastime, and Al and his family spent several years exploring Europe when he was stationed in Germany in the late 1950s. He and Jean continued to travel and cruise for many years after their return to Canada. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 5 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 9830-148 Street, Edmonton. Al's family would like to thank the staff in the Cardiac Unit and Unit 24 of the Royal Alexandra Hospital for their loving care and attention. Memorial donations may be made to the Campaign for the C.K. Hui Heart Centre, Royal Alexandra Hospital, 10240 Kingsway Avenue, Edmonton, AB, T5H 3V9.
