BROWN, Gordon On Saturday night, October 31, 2009, Gordon Brown, a long time resident of Whitecourt, passed away at the age of 85 years, with his family by his side. Gordon will always be loved and never forgotten by his children, Bruce (Gayl) of Calgary, Darlene Brown (Steve Boser) of Calgary, Doug (Barb) of Whitecourt and Brenda of Vancouver; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Predeceased by parents, Sarah and Sidney. Gordon lived in Whitecourt for over 80 years. In 1942, as a 17 year old, he joined the RCAF and served as a radio operator during World War II. He achieved the rank of Corporal. Gordon worked in many aspects of construction and logging. He was a volunteer Fireman, an active Legion Member, serving as President for many years. He will be remembered, Rest in Peace Dad, Grandpa and Comrade. A Celebration of Gordon's Life will be held Saturday, November 7 at 2:00 p.m. at Whitecourt Legion. Inurnment in the Whitecourt Cemetery, Field of Honor. Cremation in the Park Memorial Crematorium. In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made to the Whitecourt Healthcare Centre or to the Whitecourt Legion Branch 44, Poppy Fund.
