SCOTT, Major James Gordon, B. Comm. RIA (May 6, 1925 - Nov. 2, 2009) On Tuesday, November 2, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease, Gordon slipped away with his family at his side. Predeceased by his loving wife Elsie, Gordon was the proud great grandfather of Emma, the sweet Grandpa of Laura and Jennifer (Neil St. Germain) and the dearest Dad of Carolyn and fondly remembered by Stephen McIntyre. A descendant of Scottish settlers, Gordon was born in Davidson, Saskatchewan as the eldest brother to Margaret, Dale and Jack. As a young man Gordon left Canada with his Uncle Ken and joined the army. Landing in England he made lifelong friends. After the war Gordon finished his commerce degree at U of S, joined Simpsons where he met Elsie and then later re-joined the army. He served as a peace keeper living in Soest, Germany with his family and later served in Gaza under the UN for almost a year before settling in Ottawa. Elsie and Gordon loved their years of travel, and Gordon especially loved the Middle East. An insatiable reader Gordon also had a love for canoeing, cross country skiing, and building his model steam train. He epitomized the perfect gentleman and will be remembered for the many moments he created for his family. We will carry you in our hearts forever. Kindest thanks to the staff at Forrest Hill, especially Jane, Auxy, Ruth, Lu, and the nurses on C4 Queensway Carleton Hospital. Donations may be made to Soldier On or Parkinsons Society.
