Henry Thomas CARMICHAEL

CARMICHAEL, Henry Thomas Harry May 14, 1921 October 30, 2009 Harry passed away peacefully at the Rockyview Hospital on Friday, October 30, 2009 at the age of 88 years. He was born in Regina, May 14, 1921, to parents Hugh and Vera, and spent his early life there. When WWII broke out in 1939, Harry volunteered for service and served in the RCNVR for the duration. He was discharged in 1945 and later served in the Naval Officers Association. Harry was married in 1946 to Ethel Gay and together they raised two sons. He was employed by the Federal Government in Regina, and Calgary in the Excise and Sales Tax Department for 25 years before retiring in 1984. Harry is sadly missed by his wife Ethel, his two sons Kevin (Brenda), Richard (Susan), grandchildren, Tammy (Shane), Tara (Sean), Sarah and Andrew, and great grandchildren Joshua, Teige, and Phillipa, as well as, his nieces and nephews and their families. Harry was predeceased by his parents and his two sisters Eileen and Pearl. A celebration of Harry's life will be held at St. Giles Presbyterian Church, 1102 23 Avenue N.W., Calgary on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. David Vincent, officiating. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the charity of their choice. The family would like to thank Dr. Simmons and the staff in ward 73 of the Rockyview General Hospital for their care and kindness throughout his stay.
