BOWBYES, Lois Marion Lois Marion Bowbyes born November 19, 1918 in Regina Saskatchewan, passed away on October 31 at the age of 90 in Victoria. Predeceased by her husband Albert, sister Joan and brother Bill. She was most happy when surrounded by her family (though not all at the same time mind you). She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by eldest son Alan and his wife Maureen, daughter Linda and husband Jerry, son Gary and his wife Eileen and youngest son Dave and his wife Lynn. She will also be fondly remembered and cherished by grandchildren Marney (Harry), Michael (Jodi), Michele, Kevin and Danny and great grandchildren Ellie, Ethan, Laila and Madeline. On Mom's behalf, we'd like to thank her long-time friends including Kay and the ladies at cards (Marg, Betty, Fay, Flossie, Pat) for their many years of laughter, support and friendship. Special thanks to Dr. Carroll for his care and support. Mom was a person of great character, with strong moral and family values. She never had a bad thing to say about anyone (even when we gave her good cause). She was a person who cared about helping others. She volunteered for 50 years at Sunset Lodge, helping out with residents at various events and also working regularly in the tuck shop. This volunteer work earned her a C-Fax Citation Rose in the mid 90's and she was honoured by this acknowledgement of her commitment. Lately she found great peace in her daily crosswords and was an avid reader, a passion shared by many of us in her family. We are comforted knowing she was proud to live independently and was happy alongside her friends and neighbours at the Gorge Pointe. We know that she's thinking of us now, trusting that the love and care she has always given so generously will help now to soothe our heavy hearts. Memorial service to be held November 7th 2:00 pm at First Memorial Royal Oak, reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army or BC Children's Hospital. 567464 Published in the Victoria Times-Colonist from 11/4/2009 - 11/5/2009
