Bruce J. RUBY

RUBY , Bruce J. Bruce J. Ruby passed away surrounded by his family at the Three Hills Health Care Centre on Wednesday morning, November 4, 2009. Bruce, the son of Clyde and Clemie (Young) Ruby, was born in Calgary on December 24, 1928. He attended school at Sarcee Butte in Ghost Pine Creek, and graduated from Three Hills High School, where he met his future wife, Jacqueline Mae Edwards. He graduated from Olds Agricultural College, and on August 1, 1952, married Jackie at Central United Church in Calgary. He farmed in Ghost Pine, and worked in Calgary, Jumping Pound and Three Hills, where he managed the Seed Cleaning Plant for twenty years and headed Maintenance Engineering at the Three Hills Health Centre for ten years. Bruce served his community in many ways, including leading Boy Scouts, serving on Town Council, chairing the Board of the Golden Hills Lodge for twenty years, and volunteer leadership and service roles with the Alberta Seniors Games, Seniors Outreach, and many church committees. Bruce is survived by wife Jacqueline Ruby, children Patricia Ruby, Dianne Moran (Dale), Eleanor Kubinec (Kevin), Lorri Weir, and John Ruby (Angela), and thirteen grandchildren: Jonathan and Brittany Ruby; Krista and Kyle Weir; Erin, Colin, Hillary and Kari Kubinec; Trevor, Joel (Carina) and Dane Moran; and Andrew and Kathleen Jessiman. Bruce was also great-grandfather to Riley Ruby and Tristan Weir (and two more expected soon). He was predeceased by his parents, infant brother John, older sister Ruth Jane (Sommerville), and sister-in-law Mary Campbell. Bruce will be sorely missed by his family and community. The Funeral to celebrate Bruce J. Ruby's life will be held at Mount Olive Evangelical Free Church in Three Hills on Monday, November 9 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to either Mount Olive Evangelical Free Church or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
