FETTES, Joyce Isobel B.A. (Hon) (nee Mavor) Peacefully at her home on November 4, 2009 with her children at her side. Predeceased by her husband James Joseph Fettes (1976). Daughter of the late Hattie Helena (Good) Mavor and George Leslie Mavor. Loving and adored mother of Susan Diening, Jane Hansen (Paul) and David Fettes. Grandmother to Anton Diening (Nancy Bergeron), Leslie Diening (Stephane Bonetti), Victoria Scott (Glenn), Devon Hansen and Heather Hansen. Great-grandmother to Lucca, Matteo and Nicholas Bonetti, Abigael and Anthony Diening and yet to be born Baby Scott. Born in Fredericton, New Brunswick on June 12, 1922, Joyce graduated from the University of New Brunswick in 1944. In December 1945, she married her beloved Jimmie and they settled in Ottawa in 1953, building a home near Manotick, Ontario in 1957. Always community minded, Joyce was an active volunteer for many years with St. James Anglican Church, the Miller's Oven and the Carleton Golf and Yacht Club - where she was awarded the first, and only, Honourary Membership in 2003 - an honour that she cherished. Joyce was also a crackerjack bridge player and will be especially missed by her bridge companions. Friends may call at the Kars Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 1610 Roger Stevens Drive (east of Hwy 416 ), Kars on Sunday, November 8, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Monday, November 9, 2009 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Palliative Care Outreach Program, Suite 111, 1716 Woodward Avenue, Ottawa K2C 0P8 would be appreciated.
