Lorne GUDELOT

Lorne Gudelot August 7, 1947 November 4, 2009 To the profound sorrow of his family and friends, Lorne passed away on November 4th while he was vacationing in Palm Desert, California. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Janice, son Greg and his wife Trina of Winnipeg, and son Brent of Saskatoon. He was a devoted bampa to his only grandchild, Gage. Lorne was born August 7, 1947 in Kinistino, SK, and was raised on the family farm, a place that was never far from his heart. Upon completion of school, he worked for the Bank of Nova Scotia, then attended the University of Saskatchewan. Lorne then began a long successful career with KleenFlo Tumbler Industries, in December 2008 after 35 years, he retired as a manager and part-owner of the company. Lorne has a deep love of Saskatchewan, and especially the farm. Summers were spent surrounded by friends and family at Candle Lake, first with his grandparents, and later with his own family. He loved to travel, and had been to many parts of Canada, the US, Europe, and many warm destinations. His last two weeks were spent hiking Bryce Canyon in Utah, a long held desire, and walking the beaches and cliffs of San Clemente, CA. Lorne took pride in caring for his vehicles, and could repair most cars and machines. He attained his black belt in judo in 1995, and was a long time volunteer for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Canada. When his boys were younger he was active as a Beaver and Cub leader, and was a judo instructor at the YMCA. Lorne had a deep love for his family, and kept in regular contact no matter where he was, he could always be counted on to call home nearly every day. Lorne always had a special spot in his heart for children, and took great pride in being a father, uncle, and a grandfather. Lorne is survived by his parents May and George Gudelot of Kinistino, father-in-law Alex Kozma of Vancouver, sister Shirley Bowyer of Warman, brother Roy (Pat) Gudelot of Kinistino, brother Ron (Sharon) Gudelot of Kinistino, brother-in-law Rick (Heather) Kozma of Lake Cowichan, BC, brother-in-law Randy (Fran Mundy) Kozma of Toronto, and numerous nieces and nephews who were all very close to his heart. A memorial service will be held at the Saskatoon Funeral Home, (338 4th Avenue North), on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with a tea to follow at the W . A. Edwards Family Centre. Memorial donations may be sent to Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Canada (Box 430, Sub. PO #6, Saskatoon, SK S7N 0W0), or the charity of your choice. A family service will be held at the Kinistino cemetery at a later date.Greg, Brent, and Janice would like to express their appreciation for the care and compassion received from friends and family.
